Joey Doyle | Board of Directors

Joey Doyle is a Vancouver-based lawyer, practicing mainly criminal defence. He has been a member of Lawyers’ Rights Watch Canada since 2016, when he worked for LRWC as a law student. In 2017, he attended the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on behalf of LRWC. Joey is interested in the application of international human rights law to domestic law and judicial decision-making. In particular, he is interested in the use of international human rights standards to inform and expand Canada’s guarantees for the right to dissent. Joey has been involved with supporting LRWC’s volunteer monitors and is hopeful to continue developing resources to better respond and track situations in which human rights defenders are under threat.
