Melissa Tessler is a Toronto-based litigator with experience in international criminal and human rights law. Melissa was a former member of legal teams in the appeals chamber at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials. She has been an active member of LRWC since 2016 when she participated in the Colombia Caravana’s investigation of human rights violations in Colombia. She has reported and published articles on international criminal justice issues in various Canadian news outlets, most recently to highlight the crisis in Cameroon and Felix Nkongho’s trip to Canada through LWRC. She is an eager advocate for peace, justice and accountability but brings the added education of mindfulness to this work. Melissa is excited about the opportunity to join the LWRC Board and to continue making an impact in this space as a member of this team.
