On April 16, 2013, Dennis Edney, Q.C., who has defended Omar Khadr on a pro bono basis for years, spoke concerning the illegal capture and detention of Mr. Khadr by U.S. Special Forces. In 2002, the U.S. illegally detained 15-year-old Khadr in Bagram and Guantánamo Bay Prisons until he was transferred in 2012 to a Canadian maximum security facility.
