Fernando Lopez is the director of the legal team at CALDH (Centre for Human Rights Legal Action). CALDH aims to bring justice to those responsible for human rights violations in Guatemala. CALDH, with AJR (Association of Justice and Reconciliation), has filed a law suit against current presidential candidate Efraín Ríos Montt in connection with the genocide that occurred in the 1980’s while he was head of state.
On September 22nd 2003 Mr. Lopez received a written death threat. This was the same day that CALDH AND AJR co-released a statement denouncing the electioneering visit of Efraín Ríos Montt.
