LRWC is concerned for the safety of inhabitants of the Comunidad de Paz de San Jose de Apartado, Peace Community of San Jose de Apartado.
On 21 February, Luis Eduardo Guerra Guerra, one of the leaders of the Peace Community, his partner, and his son were abducted and killed by a group of armed men who identified themselves as members of the Colombian army. On 25 February, five more civilian bodies were found.
Soldiers in the area have reportedly told local inhabitants that if the killings had not been reported, they would have killed more civilians. The soldiers have allegedly referred to the eight victims as “dead guerrillas”.
