Maya Duvage, B.A. (Hons) McGill University (2010), LL.B. (Hons) University of Nottingham (2013), anticipates being called to the Bar of British Columbia in late 2017. After completing a baccalaureate at McGill University, Maya entered the legal field by working at a mid-sized Toronto firm on creditor’s rights small claims court litigation. Maya returned home to the United Kingdom to read law at the University of Nottingham, ranked a global top one percent university. Maya completed an honours bachelor of laws with a thesis focussed on international law and corporate social responsibility. She spent one year as an English teacher and cultural ambassador in Japan and, upon returning to Canada, joined a boutique Aboriginal law firm in Vancouver. Maya worked intensively on complex Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada litigation, National Energy Board hearings, and Aboriginal specific claims for two years before starting her articles. Maya has volunteer research experience on Canadian securities law with the Justice and Corporate Accountability Project (JCAP), and as a Monitor for Saudi Arabia for LRWC. Maya speaks English, French and Japanese.
