Renee Racette is a Cree First Nation and Métis individual from Cowessess First Nation and the Lebret Métis of Qu’Appelle Valley located in south-eastern Saskatchewan. Renee is a former school teacher having taught in Saskatchewan’s north, which led Renee to law school. Renee graduated from the University of Victoria law school (J.D.) and graduate school (M.A in Indigenous Governance) in 2002. She articled and practiced at Woodward and Company and now serves the Hul’qumi’num Mustimuhw as in-house counsel for five First Nations on eastern Vancouver Island in the BC Treaty Process at the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group. Renee Racette is currently pursuing an SJD from the University of Arizona Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy program. Renee has a keen interest in Aboriginal and human rights law.
