Temisan Boyo Fanou is a lawyer and adjudicator based in Toronto. She is a Member of the Refugee Protection Division of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB), where she hears and decides refugee claims from persons fearing persecution in their home countries. She is also a consultant to the International Labor Organization, where she supports efforts to eliminate child labour, forced labour, human trafficking and modern slavery in Africa. Prior to joining the IRB, Temisan practiced labour, employment and human rights law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP and in the City of Toronto’s Legal Division. She is called to the Bars of Ontario and Nigeria. She has a law degree from the University of Oxford and a degree in international relations from the University of Toronto.
